When looking for local, regional or Made in the U.S.A. products, don’t forget to check out The Crosby Arboretum Gift Shop! The Gift Shop is now showcasing local, regional and Made in the USA products. Located in the temporary Visitor Center, the Gift Shop has big plans to grow when the new Visitor Center is complete. Realizing a need for more local products, the staff of Arboretum Gift Shop is trying to find sources for more relevant local-made crafts.
Of course, the Gift Shop offers the traditional books, t-shirts, and assorted toys and gifts for children. For special events or lectures, the Gift Shop will often have relevant materials. For example, we still have a few copies of “A Sand County Almanac” for just $10. This is a wonderful book that we brought in for the Green Fire Film showing we hosted in June. Hummingbird-related items flew off the shelves during our Hummingbird Talk in July.
Newly added last week are beautifully carved walking sticks (Made in the U.S.A.). Earlier this year we were excited to receive our first shipment of “recycled” nature earrings (Made in the U.S.A.) from Jabebo. Necklaces with images of The Crosby Arboretum can be purchased here too. These beautiful pieces are created by a local Gulf Coast Artist and make a wonderful memento that can be worn year-round.
If you have a suggestion of a local made product for our Gift Shop, don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Kimberly Johnson at 601-799-2311. She can take the suggestions and work with our Director to see if we can carry the item in the shop. So whether stopping in to renew a Membership, get plant advice, or meet friends for a lunch-time walk, don’t forget to browse our Gift Shop and let Kim know how you like the new initiative for local and Made in the U.S.A.
Happy Shopping!
